My Investment Portfolio (July 2017)

STI closed the month at around 3329 points, with banks and property counters continuing their good run. However, the rally somewhat tapered off near the end of the month, indicating that markets might be needing a break.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Ascendas Hospitality Trust, Azeus,  Ascendas India Trust, Metro, MapleTree Logistics Trust, SIA Engineering, SingPost, SATS, PM Data, Bukit Sembawang, AA Reit, GLP and GP Industries.

For my top 30 holdings, PM Data returned to the list after a decent performance as investors are more upbeat about its prospects and margin of their products. Other stocks in the list that did well include Metro, Bukit Sembawang Estates, Tat Seng, GK Goh, Spindex, Isetan and Hiap Hoe. Keppel T&T did not do well due to its poor 2Q results and also the decision to end its strategic review of their stake in M1. Sarine Technologies also underperformed after the company announced that they had filed lawsuit against infringers of its technology. Jardine C&C was another laggard in the list.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AF Global, Bund Center, ComfortDelgro, Delfi, EnGro, Hotel Grand Central, IHH, Karin, Koh Brothers, M1, Raffles Medical and Stamford Land. No sell trade was done.

I have participated in the following rights issues this month - Pan Utd and CDL H Trust. I have also accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offers this month - China Flexible Packaging (shares and warrants) and Nobel Design.

Next month will be another quiet month in terms of AGMs but there will be companies announcing their half-year results. Companies with financial year ending 30 June 2017 will also be announcing their full-year results. I will be keeping track on some of these result announcements. Also, I will be seeking to re-invest those dividends received prudently back into the market.

My Investment Portfolio (June 2017)

STI closed the month at around 3226 points, with the sell-off being accelerated towards the end of the month. Markets continued to look mixed but tech stocks had been sold off more than others. Short term wise, there seems to be more downside risk rather than upside for STI.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Sakae, Transit Mixed Concrete and Imperium Crown.

For my top 30 holdings, stocks that did well include Bukit Sembawang Estates, UOL and Mandarin Oriental. Laggards include Sarine Technologies and ComfortDelgro. Isetan returned to the list as I have added onto the stock this month.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AF Global, ComfortDelgro, Chuan Hup, Delfi, First Sponsor, GL, Hiap Hoe, Hwa Hong, Isetan, Koh Brothers, LTC Corp, Pacific Century, Raffles Medical, Samudera Shipping, SingPost, SingTel, Singapura Finance, Stamford Land, Tan Chong International, The Hour Glass, UOI and Yeo Hiap Seng. No sell trade was done.

I have participated in the following rights issue this month - Maxi-Cash. I have also accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offer this month - Changtian Plastic.

I have participated in the following scrip dividend schemes - Far East Orchard and Hotel Grand Central.

With companies with financial year ending 31 March 2017 holding their AGMs, it will be another busy month for me in July. As usual, I will seek to attend some of these meetings to get updates on those companies in my portfolio.

My Investment Portfolio (May 2017)

STI closed the month at around 3210 points. Markets look like in a consolidation phase right now after doing well since the start of this year. Weak oil prices also affected the market. Having said that, there are still some good movements based on stock specific ideas.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Medtecs, Camsing Healthcare and Low Keng Huat.

For my top 30 holdings, stocks that did well include Haw Par, Best World and PNE Industries. Best World released a set of decent 1Q results while PNE Industries declared a special interim dividend together with their half-year result announcement. Laggards include Sarine Technologies, Far East Orchard, Stamford Land and ComfortDelgro. ComfortDelgro was especially beaten down after releasing a disappointing 1Q results.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AF Global, CDW, Cheung Woh, China International, Chuan Hup, ComfortDelgro, CSE Global, Delfi, Far East Hospitality Trust, Far East Orchard, First Sponsor, GuocoLand, Heeton, Hiap Hoe, Hong Leong Finance, IPC Corp, Isetan, K1 Ventures, Lee Metal, Pacific Century, Samudera Shipping, SingPost, Singapore Reinsurance, Tianjin Zhongxin and Yeo Hiap Seng. No sell trade was done.

I have participated in the following rights issue this month - LifeBrandz.

I have also participated in the following scrip dividend schemes - Aspial, AusNet Services, China International, DBS, Far East Hospitality Trust, Frasers Commercial Trust, Jardine Matheson, Jardine Strategic, Keppel REIT, Raffles Medical, QAF, Tuan Sing, UIC, United Overseas Australia, UOB, UOB Kay Hian and UOL.

With much of the dividends collected in May 2017 being re-invested back into the market, next month will be another quiet month for me. I will seek to re-invest the remaining dividends collected in May 2017 and also in June 2017 to reduce my portfolio cash drag.

My Investment Portfolio (April 2017)

STI closed the month flat as compared to last month. Uncertainty in the markets prevented it from moving higher, though there is some recovery towards the end of the month. The usual concerns were there - French elections, US political uncertainty and North Korea. Tech stocks (especially those with exposure to automotive and semiconductor sectors) continued to do well.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - SP Corp, CapitaLand Mall Trust, Far East Hospitality Trust, CapitaLand Commercial Trust, Colex, Ascott Residence Trust, CapitaLand Retail China Trust, Far East Orchard, OUE Hospitality Trust, GK Goh, CapitaLand, SBS Transit, City Developments, Delfi, Samudera, Yanlord, Frencken, Sabana Reit and Kingboard Copper Foil.

For my top 30 holdings, not much changes this month as there is not much news flow with AGMs going on for most companies except for Amara and Hong Leong Finance whereby research houses initiated reports on these companies. With some companies going ex-dividend already, interest in these holdings might go down a bit unless there is significant news flow. I have added my position in some of these holdings though.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AV Jennings, Far East Orchard, GuocoLand, Heeton, Hong Leong Finance, iFAST, Isetan, K1 Ventures, SingPost, Singapore Reinsurance and YHI. No sell trade was done.

I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offers this month - AIM and Global Premium Hotels. My stake in ARA Asset Management was also being acquired via scheme of arrangement.

I have also participated in the following scrip dividend scheme - Global Investments.

Next month will be another quiet month. I will continue to go through those annual reports that I have missed out last month and catch up with some of my readings on investment.

My Investment Portfolio (March 2017)

STI ended the first quarter on a high, closing at 3175 points. It had been a good month especially for manufacturing stocks as they continued to benefit from strong export numbers.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - ARA, K1 Ventures, Pacific Century Regional Developments and Mermaid Maritime.

For my top 30 holdings, stocks that did well include Hong Fok, Bukit Sembawang Estates, Keppel T&T and Tat Seng. Best World and PNE Industries also returned to the list after a good run while LHT is a new entry to the list after they announced an increase in dividend payout with their full year result. Shangri-La Asia also did well as their full year result beats market expectation. Laggard include ComfortDelgro as investors continued to be concerned with their taxi business due to increased competition from new players.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AV Jennings, Delfi, FSL Trust, GK Goh, Hotel Grand Central, iFAST, K1 Ventures, Keppel T&T, Riverstone, Samudera, Straits Trading, The Hour Glass, UIC, Union Steel, VARD and Vicplas. I have also closed my position in UPP W200212 to lock in its time value.

I have accepted the following voluntary delisting/cash offers this month - Auric Pacific and Super Group. My stake in Innovalues was also being acquired via scheme of arrangement.

I have also participated the following rights issues - HMI and Ascott REIT.

Next month will be the usual AGM season as companies with financial year ending 31 December 2016 will be conducting their AGMs. As usual, I will be attending some of these meetings to get some updates from those companies that I have invested in and their outlook and prospects ahead.

My Investment Portfolio (February 2017)

STI ended the month of the year at around 3100 points, building onto its gain from last month as Dow Jones continued to post new highs.

For this month, I have attended the following AGMs/EGMs/briefings - Pacific Star (formerly known as LH Group), Fu Yu, China Flexible Packaging and AV Jennings.

For my top 30 holdings, most of the stocks in the list did well. The 3 finance companies moved up after MAS introduced a series of changes which might benefit their business as they can now do more stuff. Jardine C&C and CapitaLand also posted a decent set of results, with increased dividend being declared. Sarine Technologies reported a turnaround in their business. Tat Seng also surprised the market with a special dividend, while Amara make it to the list after announcing a special dividend as their results were boasted from gains for their EC project, CityLife@Tampines.The Hour Glass also reported a decent set of interim results which suggested that spending from the high end segment of the retail market might have shown early signs of recovery. Other stocks in the list which declared a special dividend when announcing full-year results include United Engineers, Bonvests, Hotel Grand Central, Hotel Properties and Colex. Spindex, meanwhile, returned to the list after controlling shareholder announced that they offered to take the company private via Scheme of Arrangement.

I have bought the following companies from the market this month - AV Jennings, Best World, CEI, ComfortDelgro, EnGro, FSL Trust, GuocoLand, Haw Par, Hotung, IPC Corp, Kingsmen, Koh Brothers, Mandarin Oriental, MTQ, Shangri-La Asia, Singapura Finance, TIH, UOA and UIC. I have also closed my position in AA Group shares that were received via conversion of their unlisted warrants.

I have also participated in the following scrip dividend schemes - CapitaLand Retail China Trust, First REIT, Frasers Commercial Trust and Keppel REIT.

Next month will be another quiet month as companies are done with their financial results reporting. I will go through some of those result announcements that I have missed out and also reflect on some of the results in order to make portfolio decisions with regards to those companies.
